Danish Spin-Offs

Korridoren

Within the European Community's ADAPT (Adaptation of the workforce to industrial change) initiative, a study on Corporate Spin-Off phenomena within the Danish region of Korridoren has been undertaken. 201 small and medium sized companies have been interviewed about their experience with outsourcing and their willingness of participating in a Spin-Off process. French Spin-Offs

APCE

(Only in French): The French "Agence Pour la Création d'Entreprises (APCE)- Agency for the Promotion of New Firm Formation" monitors Spin-Off activities in France and proposes actions that support the creation of Spin-Off companies (Spin-Off report 1998).  Apart from studies on new firm formation in France in general, a 1999 comparative study of conditions for new firm formation in 14 European and 4 non-European countries is available.

Spanish Spin-Offs

CEIN

(Only in Spanish): The Spanish "Centro Europeo de Empresas e Innovación de Navarra (CEIN)- European Center for Companies and Innovation of Navarra" have carried through a representative study on Coorporate Spin-Offs in 7 out of 17 regions between 1994-96. Further, CEIN undertakes other supportive measures which are presented here.

University Spin-Offs

Chalmers University

Chalmers University of Technology, Gothemburgh, Sweden offers a programme supporting high-technology Spin-Offs from research. Participants are helped with knowledge/consultancy, contacting willing investors, the provision of suitable office space and access to research-cooperation within the region.

University of Twente

The University of Twente, Netherlands, offers a comprehensive entrepreneurship programme. Start-ups benefiting from the University of Twente's TOP programme can get, among other incentives, an interest-free loan of around 15,000 Euro. Since 1984, 220 individuals have taken this opportunity and started 170 enterprises.

UNISPIN

Supported by the INNOVATION programme, UNISPIN aims to promote regional university programmes that support the establishment of Spin-Off companies from universities, other higher education institutions and research laboratories. The objective is to promote new business, self-employment, economic diversification and technology transfer in the regions concerned. UNISPIN was started in February1997 and two workshop series were held up to now, one in Oct/Nov 1997 and another one in Oct 1998.
