Aims

A Corporate Spin-Off is the separation of an existing company into two, usually a bigger one (the parent company) and a smaller one (the Spin-Off). Corporate Spin-Offs can be the result of restructuring of the parent company or can be formed when employees use their experience acquired within the parent company to exploit new ventures outside the parent company (see also Definitions).
Corporate Spin-Offs can be regarded as "reverse-mergers", but in contrast to Mergers and Acquisitions; there exists few and heterogeneous literature. Therefore, the aim of this website is to provide experts from science and practice with a forum in order to:

give experts a place to exchange knowledge and ideas and contribute to the discussion on Corporate Spin-Offs,

stimulate investigation of Spin-Off processes and their impacts,
promote the formulation of scientific models and definitions for a better understanding of Spin-Offs.

As secondary aims, this webspace tries to raise awareness of Spin-Offs as an important vehicle for industrial change and give insights into their main characteristics. The Corporate Spin-Off.com webspace is intended as a scientific forum and has no commercial character. It is privately hosted and sporadically updated.
